Hi, I’m Dr. Susan Plank.

 

As a chiropractor and expert in natural remedies for weight loss and digestive health issues, I’ve helped thousands of clients overcome their weight challenges.

But I didn’t start there…

When I started my chiropractic practice in 1990, I didn’t realize I’d end up helping people lose weight. But then my mom got sick.

Her digestive issues — ranging from lactose intolerance to severe IBS — were so bad she could barely leave the house. She spent years going from doctor to doctor without finding real answers. Ultimately, she passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2012.

I dug in my heels and decided that no other person was ever going to go through this if I could help it.

So I started working with women on their digestion. I’d evaluate their symptoms, run labs, and look at what they ate so I could figure out the underlying issues. Then I’d formulate a diet, lifestyle, and supplement plan that would address their key issues. And they’d start feeling better.

Over time, I realized these issues are related. When you’re in your 20’s and 30’s you can lose weight just by eating less. But as you get older, hormonal imbalances cause your body to hold onto weight.

To make matters worse, digestion becomes less effective as we age. So when you have this perfect storm of insufficient hormones and slower digestion, you end up with weight gain, low energy, and digestive issues like bloating and gas. But there is good news. Inevitably, when I worked with my clients on one of these issues, we’d fix the others as well.

I truly believe if someone had gotten to the bottom of my mom’s digestive issues, she would not only have lost the extra weight, but she would have lived the longer, healthier life she deserved.

So now my practice is devoted to just that. I help women who struggle with weight, digestion, and low energy to get back on top of life so they can look and feel their best.

But I noticed something else, too. Almost every one of my patients lost weight.

Maybe in the past you could cut calories, change the food groups you focused on, or hit the gym to get your weight down. But as you get older those approaches don’t work anymore. And you end up with stubborn weight gain — the kind of weight you just can’t starve off.
